FAQs
Do I always need surgery?
No. Many orthopedic conditions and sports injuries can be successfully treated with physical therapy, activity modification, medications, injections, or other non-surgical solutions. Dr. Maguire only recommends surgery when conservative options have been exhausted, or if delaying surgery would result in greater disability or a compromised ability to repair the tissue.
What does a sports medicine fellowship mean?
After completing his orthopaedic surgery residency, Dr. Maguire completed an additional fellowship focused on sports medicine. This specialized training included caring for athletes at every level and performing advanced arthroscopic procedures to treat shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, and other joint injuries. The same expertise benefits patients of all ages, not just athletes.
Do you only treat athletes?
Not at all. While Dr. Maguire does work with current and former athletes, he treats patients of all activity levels, including active young adults, older adults with arthritis, weekend warriors, and anyone experiencing joint pain or injury.
Which areas of the body do you treat?
Dr. Maguire specializes in orthopedic conditions affecting the shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, hand, wrist, foot, and ankle, including sports injuries, arthritis, fractures, tendon injuries, and ligament tears.
How do I find an orthopedic surgeon near me?
If you’re looking for an orthopedic surgeon on Long Island, NY, choosing a physician with specialized training, experience treating your specific condition, and a patient-first approach is key. As a fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Maguire provides personalized care for sports injuries, arthritis, fractures, and a wide range of orthopedic conditions.
